How to Find Your Terminal
Windows
Using Command Prompt:
- Search: Click on the Start Menu (or press

key) and typecmd
. - Open: Click on Command Prompt from the search results.
Using Windows PowerShell:
- Search: Click on the Start Menu (or press

. - Open: Click on Windows PowerShell from the search results.
Using Windows Terminal:
- Search: Click on the Start Menu (or press

key) and typeterminal
. - Open: Click on Windows Terminal from the search results.
macOS
Using Spotlight:
- Search: Press
Cmd + Space
to open Spotlight. - Type: Enter
Terminal
and pressEnter
. - Open: The Terminal app will open.
Using Finder:
- Open Finder: Click on the Finder icon in your dock.
- Go to Applications: Navigate to the Applications folder.
- Go to Utilities: Find and open the Utilities folder.
- Open Terminal: Double-click on Terminal.
Linux
Using the Application Menu:
- Open Menu: Click on the Application Menu (sometimes called “Activities” or “Applications”) in your desktop environment.
- Search: Type
Terminal
. - Open: Click on the Terminal application.
Using Keyboard Shortcut:
- Shortcut: Depending on your Linux distribution and desktop environment, you can usually press
Ctrl + Alt + T
to open the Terminal directly.
Using the Desktop Environment:
- GNOME/KDE/Xfce: Right-click on the desktop or within a folder.
- Select: Choose Open Terminal from the context menu.
Now you can easily find and open the terminal on your preferred operating system!
